MINAM, AIDESEP AND COICA SIGNED INSTITUTIONAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT 

Being 2 pm, the Vice minister of Environment, Gabriel Quijandría, Alberto Pizango Chota, President of the Interethnic Association of Development of the Peruvian Jungle – AIDESEP and Edwin Vasquez, General Coordinator of the Coordinator of the Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin – COICA, signed the Institutional Cooperation Agreement in the framework of the events that will take place in the 20° United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP20). The President of AIDESEP, Alberto Pizango, thanked the presence of Vice minister Quijandria and COICA’s General Coordinator, Edwin Vasquez, where he stated that the signing of the agreement is an understanding between the State and the indigenous organizations  …”the first historical step to develop in a joint way activities that allow the minimization of the big environmental impacts on a national and international level”. Edwin Vasquez, COICA General Coordinator also greeted the attendance of the people present and highlighted the joint work between the indigenous organizations and the Peruvian State in favor of the COP 20 “You have to know, Vice minister, that COICA does not just comprise the Amazon indigenous organizations but also the Andean ones through the alliance with CAOI, which is why Latin America and Central America will be attentive to our actions”.. “Thank you and I want to sign now”.. Vasquez pointed out. The Vice minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources, Gabriel Quijandria, stated that even though the signing of this agreement is being held in the framework of the activities of the COP 20, this doesn’t end with this world event but goes beyond the processes in a joint work ..”All of us that are here are witnesses of a historical process of a claim that should have happened before, but is a signal of this process that we have initiated” said the official referring to the signing of the Institutional Cooperation Agreement. After the words of the representatives of the MINAM, AIDESEP and COICA proceeded to the signing of the agreement.
